With the aim of pacifying and unifying Europe, many treaties were signed in the 1950s, leading to the conclusion of the first twinning arrangements. These rapprochements continued to grow, until they became a great European movement, in which Villenave d'Ornon has participated since 1978.

The strengthening of European relations carried out with Seeheim-Jugenheim, Torres Vedras and Bridgend is therefore part of a long-standing process, which manifests itself in:

Bilateral relations: contacts between children and young people from Seeheim-Jugenheim and Villenave d'Ornon, participation in the main events of Torres Vedras, exchanges between the choirs of Villenave d'Ornon and Bridgend, school exchanges and numerous associative meetings.

Multilateral events: organization, every three years, of European Days bringing together representatives from all the partner cities as well as from their own twin cities.

These actions, in addition to responding to the establishment of a citizens' Europe, allow Villenavezes and Villenavez to discover these three municipalities and their beautiful regions as well as to establish contacts - and very often friendships - with their inhabitants. .
