DESCRIPTION

Torres Vedras is a town in Oeste, a region in the southwest of Portugal. Just 40 minutes north of Lisbon, Torres Vedras is the capital of a group of 20 villages.

All activities are possible in our beautiful twin town: visit the city center made up of historic sites that have marked the past, drink a good wine in the heart of the vineyards, enjoy the renowned gastronomy and bathe in the fresh water of the Atlantic Ocean.

During its past, Torres Vedras has been the scene of major events in the history of Portugal. The vestiges of this period are still visible in the city: the old medieval castle which became the Palace of the Alcaldes, the “Linhas de Torres” which protected Lisbon from the Napoleonic invasion or the Castro de Zambujal archaeological site.

Torres Vedras is also renowned for its wines, the quality of which has been awarded a protected designation. The city produces red wines, full-bodied and dry, as well as white, fruity and light.

The coastline of Torres Vedras, that is approximately 20 km long, is the ideal place to relax on a white sand beach (eg Santa Cruz beach) or to surf some of the best waves in Portugal. Awarded with several distinctions, the coast of Torres Vedras offers exceptional tranquility and the most beautiful sunset.

The Torres Vedras Carnival, considered “Portugal's most Portuguese Carnival”, is an event not to be missed. Every year in February, thousands of people gather in the city for a long weekend to party. On the program: parades, concerts and other events but only one obligation: to be disguised!
